We’d like to thank all of you for coming out to our Ultimate In-Your-Faceoff Dessert Bakeoff last night! There was a great turnout, despite the rain, and all of the desserts came out fabulously! We were happy to host the event in support of Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign.
We were truly impressed with not only the contestants creative use of Chilean Extra Virgin Olive Oil, but also their amazing presentation and spirit! We ended the night sufficiently stuffed with gourmet goodies, and have successfully placated our sweet-tooth for a few months.
A huge Thank-You to our judges Ryan D’Agostino of Esquire’s Eat Like A Man; Elizabeth Gunnison, freelance writer for various publications such as The Wall Street Journal and BonAppetit.com; and Debra Kletter, the founder of Eatquest NYC. They had a really tough job to do, as the competition was fierce between all of the delicious treats!
Contestant number one was Camila Moreno of Puro Chile, who created the Double Fudge Chilean Olive Oil Brownie with a kick of spice. This gooey, chocolatey bite of goodness was chosen as one of the Judge’s favorite! Congratulations Camila for winning the Chile Olive Oil Ultimate Dessert In-Your Faceoff!
Next up was the crowd favorite, by Chef Kate from Delicatessen! Her Chilean Olive Oil Cake with Marscapone and Almond brittle stole the crowd’s heart! Congratulations!
Chef Al Stephens of Olives NYC created a wonderful Tres Leche Cake with Chilean Olive Oil & Carmelized Honey Ice Cream. Here’s a look of him creating the dish packed with flavor behind the scenes:
Chef Al also created these wonderful Chilean Olive Oil and Creamsicle Cupcakes, from Isabelle English’s (yes, that’s Chef Todd English’s daughter!) Curly Cakes.
Ever think of Olive Oil Gelato (or Ice Cream? Check out our recipe here!) Well Jon Snyder of Il Laboratorio del Gelato did, and we couldn’t have been more delighted! This dessert truly highlighted the taste of Chilean EVOO.
Jamie Rosenberg of Tu-Lu’s Gluten-Free Bakery created small bites of heaven in the form of delicious Mini Glazed Chile Olive Oil Donuts. We were only able to snatch up a few before they were gone! Tu-Lu’s also made some wonderful granola made with Bold Chilean Olive Oil to accompany the other items in our attendees goodie bags.
Always spicing things up, Diana Delatorre of The Naughty Houswife created these adorable Olive Oil Cookies. We can never get enough! If you were lucky enough to make it to the event you also received a batch in your gift bag!
Newton Pryce of Baked by Butterfield did not disappoint with these freshly baked Olive Oil Candied Thyme Donuts! So refreshing with an interesting flavor combination we could have never come up with.
Our lovely Chilean Olive Oil desserts were also complimented by great Chilean Wines…
And our guests learned how Olive Oil tastings could be just as informative and interesting as a wine tasting.
Our night came to a close with one last treat, our Chilean EVOO Chocolate Fountain! (Who said it was posible to have too much chocolate?)
Each dessert was spectacular and was able to highlight Chilean EVOO at its sweetest!
